Today, we are incredibly proud to celebrate a massive milestone: our Head Forester, John Redell, is marking 46 years with Cummings Lumber Company!

John is the absolute definition of dedication, hard work, and expertise. If you’ve ever had the pleasure of working with him, you already know he is as kind and knowledgeable as they come. We truly cannot thank him enough for nearly half a century of incredible service and leadership.

As the final weekend of May arrives, it’s easy to get caught up in the excitement of a long weekend. For many, it marks the unofficial start of summer, a time for backyard barbecues, family gatherings, and enjoying the warmer weather.

But at Cummings Lumber, Barefoot Flooring, and Barefoot Pellet Company, we believe it is deeply important to look beyond the festivities and focus on the true purpose of this sacred holiday.

Memorial Day is not just a day off; it is a day of solemn remembrance. It is a time dedicated to honoring the brave men and women of our armed forces who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country. Every freedom we enjoy today—from the safety of our communities to the ability to gather freely with our loved ones—was paid for by their selflessness and courage.

Our hearts, thoughts, and deepest gratitude are with the Gold Star families who carry the heavy legacy of their loved ones’ sacrifice every single day. We owe them a debt of honor that can never truly be repaid, but can be humbly acknowledged through our remembrance.

Holiday Notice: We Will Be Closed

To allow our employees the time to properly observe this day of reflection and spend meaningful time with their families, all of our facilities will be closed on Monday, May 25th, 2026.

We will resume regular business hours on Tuesday, May 26th.

We want to give a quick shout-out to Chaz Morgan! Chaz is celebrating 3 years with us, with an additional 4 years of previous service here at Cummings Lumber Company.

It’s been great watching Chaz work his way up to his current position as a Forklift Driver. We truly appreciate his hard work and the reliability he brings to the team every day.

We are incredibly proud to recognize Dustin for 4 years of total dedication to the Cummings Lumber team.

Dustin is the definition of a team player. Currently serving as one of our Maintenance Men, he’s always ready to pivot and step in as a Machine Operator whenever he’s needed. From maintaining our current fleet to the precision work of assembling new equipment, Dustin dives in head-first.

There truly is no job too small or too tough for him. Whether he’s getting his hands dirty in the trenches or tackling a complex repair, he gets it done with a “can-do” attitude that inspires us all.

We were honored to host the Troy Chamber of Commerce monthly lunch meeting yesterday at our Barefoot Pellet location!

It was a great afternoon featuring a festive Cinco de Mayo themed taco bar—with a special shoutout to Barnstead Pantry for donating the delicious taco seasoning! We also gained some great perspective from guest speaker Matt Williams of the Progress Authority, who shared updates on the exciting developments happening across Bradford County.
